5 Tips to Improve Your PageRank
By Team Position2

Here are 5 simple tips to ensure that your site has a good PageRank. These are pretty basic, but we have had clients who needed help in these areas. That prompted us to write out this informative post.

According to Wikipedia, PageRank is a link analysis algorithm, named after Larry Page, used by the Google Internet search engine that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set.

PageRank Meter
Google toolbar is one of the popular tools to check your PageRank. Install Google toolbar and look for the PageRank meter. It displays a score from 0 to 9. It’s a logarithmic scale and 9 are typically reserved for highly popular sites like Google itself and Yahoo!

1.Unique, informative & useful content. It is advisable to have unique content across your website. This helps not only in improving the user experience but also entices Google to visit your website more often. Creating valuable content sets you apart from your competitor and keeps your users glued to your website.

2.Internal link structure. Internal links are as important as external links. Make sure your internal navigation is proper and your site doesn’t have any dead or broken links.

3.Site submission. Submit your site to popular search engines like Google & web directories like Dmoz, Yahoo!, Business.com etc. This will help in getting more traffic to your website. This in turn will increase your website popularity tremendously.

4.Inbound & outbound links. Create a good neighbourhood with sites that are relevant to the business you are in. Search engines like Google give high importance to the number of back links you have on your site. Quality is more important than quantity. Identify the list of sites relevant to your domain and place your URL on those websites. A traditional but an effective way to increase your website presence & boost your PR is to list out the high PR sites which are relevant to your content and trade your link with them.

5.Engage in active discussions. Join forums, get cordial with the members, talk about your product and place your URL with each comment. When users read these comments they will eager to know about your site and this will get you more visitors to your site. Write unique and original articles on these sites to increase your web presence.
